The Inaugural Asian Bowls Championship took place from 17-23 June 2001 at Hong Kong Football Club and Craigengower Cricket Club in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong was represented by Tony Tong, Adam Poynton, James Cheng, Jimmy Chiu, K.K. Yeung, Jacky Wong, Dawood Karamdin, Dickson Ha, Andrew Robertson and Nelson To. Team manager was Pat Chan.
Hong Kong men won a gold medal in Men Pairs, two bronze medals in Men Singles and Triples. The team overall ranked second.
Hong Kong ladies team was represented by Danna Chiu, Angela Chau, Lena Yeung, Anna Chan, Anna Clarke, Stephanie Chung, Camilla Leung, Alice Antunes, Fanny Fernandes, Julia Wong. Team managress was Cecilia Smith
Hong Kong ladies won a silver in Triples and a bronze medal in Fours. The team overall ranked third.
