Launched in 2012, the objectives of the Young Athletes Advance Scheme are to raise and refine the techniques of the athletes; to enhance their knowledge of the laws of bowls, and to learn competition tactics, rules and regulations. This will prepare them for entering the Youth Development Team as vacancies arise.
The training employs a systematic approach, with 36 sessions per year, to cultivate the participants’ bowling knowledge.
Those from 8 to 17 years of age who have successfully completed the Young Athletes Lawn Bowls Training Scheme or intermediate training course are eligible to apply for this Training. The main selections will be made at the Youth Novice Competition held every March. Training will be conducted every Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon. Participation is free (100% subsidized by the Association).
This Young Athletes Advance Scheme is organized by the Lawn Bowls Association of Hong Kong, China and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
